This plaque displays fine details and is a less common specimen from the Lacustrine deposits of the Flora of the Eocene.. Vitis is a member of the Vitaceae or grapes and is the most uncommon member of the flora. The deeper brown color of the plant matter contrasts well with the lighter matrix, bringing out the detail.

This species flourished during the early Eocene and Ypresian stage, and can now be found in formations across North America including Driftwood Canyon, Allenby Formation, and the McAbee fossil beds.

These fossils where found in early Eocene (56 million to 47.8 million years ago) deposits of northern Washington state, United States.
