Enchodus (from Greek: 'spear' and 'tooth') is an extinct Ray-finned Fish related to Lancetfish, Lizardfish, and present day Salmon. This species flourished during the Late Cretaceous period, and survived the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event, persisting into the late Eocene. Also known as the Saber-Toothed Herring, it had fang-like teeth in the upper and lower jaws. The large fangs, along with big eyes and a long sleek body, suggests Enchodus was a predatory species.
