The largest fish that ever lived, the Megalodon (Carcharocles Megalodon), ruled the seas from the early Miocene Epoch until the end of the Pliocene Epoch (2.58 million years ago). With a bite several times larger than the current day shark, they measured up to 18 meters long and weighed up to 65 metric tons.
